About FlotsamPress
FlotsamPress is an independent publishing imprint run by Daniel, based in Melbourne, Australia.
The name has a few layers to it. Partly it’s a nod to a love of Tolkien and a taste for slightly eccentric names. Partly it’s an acknowledgement that what I publish is genuinely eclectic — sheet music and theology don’t often share a catalogue. But mostly it comes from where this all started.
You may know the expression flotsam and jetsam. Jetsam is the cargo you deliberately throw overboard when your ship is sinking. Flotsam is everything that spills out onto the sea when you actually wreck. I began publishing during a very difficult period of my life — it was a creative outlet, something to hold onto. FlotsamPress is what washed up.
What I Publish
Sheet Music
I publish cello and viola arrangements of worship music, classical repertoire, folk songs, and holiday pieces. These are designed for real players: beginners and intermediates who want well-chosen, well-formatted music at affordable prices.
Classic Christian Books
I republish significant works of theology and philosophy from the public domain, and produce fresh translations of works that deserve a wider modern readership. My focus is on making important works of theology and philosophy accessible and affordable to ordinary readers, not just scholars. Authors republished so far include Kierkegaard, Kuyper, Melanchthon, and Bonhoeffer.
How It Works
All books are available in print and Kindle on Amazon, and as PDF or EPUB direct from me via Payhip.
I use print-on-demand, which means no warehouses, no minimum orders, and no inflated prices to cover distribution overhead. You get a quality book; I keep things lean.
